Dear Parent(s), Thank you for sending the registration fee of $10.00 for your child or $45.00 for your teen. As you know, the time is almost here. We are very excited about Camp Shocco for the Deaf this year. We are expecting to have more deaf/hard-of-hearing campers register this year from all over the state of Alabama, and also some from Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This will be a fun-filled week that your child will never forget. Because of the large number of campers registered to attend (which is a good problem), we are being stretched a little thin financially. As you know, we have made the camp free for all campers, except for the $10.00/$45.00 registration fee. The camp, of course, is not truly "free". It is costing us $168.00 per person, but rather than charging this to the camper in order to attend, we have chosen to raise the necessary funds from other sources. We feel that this has directly impacted our attendance in a positive way, and we hope to continue to offer this service for years to come. As some of you know, we have moved our camp to the more "rustic" Adventure Camp location on the Shocco Springs campus. This will provide a more traditional camp environment, though we will still have air conditioning, which is cheating in my book. For the Adventure Camp, campers will need to bring their own bedding and bathroom supplies. This includes items such as a sleeping bag (or sheets and a blanket), washcloth, towels for showers, a towel for swimming, pillow, soap, shampoo, and any other bathroom or sleeping necessities. When you fill out the insurance form, please make a copy of your insurance card for in case of emergency if we have to take your child to the doctor. We would like to encourage you and your family to stay for the dinner/opening ceremony on June 29th at 5:00 pm in order to meet our new guest pastors, counselors and teachers. If you have any other questions concerning what
to pack, please don't hesitate to e-mail us or call. |
